Living near the Canadian border I always start seedlings in clear plastic bins a month or two before I can put them outside. Sometimes its tough to find bins that also have clear lids, but then you have your own mini-greenhouse for $6-8. One bin holds 20 4" pots. You have to watch them though for damping off and overheating by venting the lids during the day, especially in direct sunlight. But with this kind of system you can harden off your young plants in the bins to get them used to cold weather outdoors, and have them still semi-sheltered from early spring storms and be able to take them back in if the weather gets bad- something you probably don't have to worry too much about where you are at down south, but with our short growing window, its important to get a jump on things.
Excellent information and very thorough, as usual. Thank you so much for posting this. I am grateful for the time you take when I know how busy your family must keep you.
Thank you! I just got your seeds last week! I cannot wait until spring to plant the Victorious General beans! I planted some of green skin radish already.
