  1. Love your videos and absolutely adore your Welch accent! You’re such a natural, likeable character, who should be gracing our tv screens presenting horticulture programs. Don’t understand why the BBC haven’t snapped you up yet!!

  2. My boyfriend and I love watching your videos. Especially whilst settling down with the Marshall’s catalogue. You are fast becoming a gay icon Huw; The Sexy Gardener perhaps. Thank you so much for all your content.

  3. I'm doing pretty much what you are doing – pull weeds, mulching, taking down the last bean poles, adding things to the compost pile and compost to the soil. I'm also prepping a few more spots to have more beds by the time Spring comes, sowing a few more broccoli, cauliflower, chinese cabbage, portuguese kale (can't wait to have the almost fully grown ones for Christmas 😀 ), leeks and radishes. Still have to separate my green globe artichokes, build a new smaller glasshouse for a few of my mums plants, remove chicken manure from the chicken coop and can't forget to stake my peas (maybe I'll try using pea netting this year) . 🙂

Love the video and seeing how hard you work to keep everything going.

  4. I love watching your videos. You give a lot of information thats easy to follow and I can't think for the life of me who in their right mind would give you a thumbs down. Shame on them. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing x x

  5. The fence you took out of the pea bed – would love to see a video tutorial on how to make one of those, or just on climbing frames in general. At the moment I'm thinking about training my cucumbers to grow vertically (Springtime here in NZ). Thanks Huw

  6. You must have alot time on your hands !!
I don't compost any more to much work bring it to the compost pile bring it back I just cut it down and cover it with leaves and wood chips and it composts down where I need it as in the wild
and I also never remove the roots I leave them in just cut them at the base I also do not have yelow leaves on my kale or cabage as I eat them before

  7. Using the back to Eden gardening method saves your back by having very little weeding. Plus I put mulch leaves on top of my garden to feed it during the winter. That way my garden is ready for spring planting. Plus it gets chicken waste all winter.

  8. Love this video! Thank you. I am almost 70, live in Southern Indiana USA
Today (sitting down) I dug out two cart loads of compost to pile on my new No-dig organic cottage garden in my front yard. O, boy what I could do with your strength and energy. Hope to mow/mulch a lot of leaves and some grass mixture in next few days to hopefully have better results next Spring.

  9. Hey Huw, great tip with the hammer. I've a bit of a weird question, do you ever find gardening lonely? I was wondering how gardeners keep sane. I find it lonely when theres noone with me gardening or even just keeping me company. My dog isnt allowed in the allotment with me.

  10. Hi wonderful watch as always, I have used two different methods one bed I've covered in soaked layers of newspaper to across a weed barrier and on my half allotment I've chopped and dropped and covered with weed membrane and black plastic let the worms work through the winter. I'm trying to make as much compost as I can so next year I will be able to mulch over with that.

  11. Hi Huw, I was wondering if you ever ate the nasturtium flowers? They're great in salads and can add a nice peppery bite with a hint of sweetness. 🙂 Thanks for tips.

  12. Love your garden and wish mine looked that good. Just starting to remake garden here after few years of being left alone. But now is all under a few inches of snow already. Planning for the spring!

  13. This was very satisfying to watch. I'll be doing my fall garden cleanup soon, but I think I'm going to try just cutting the plants off at the base as opposed to pulling them to allow the roots to decay in the soil and help with aeration and organic matter building. We'll see how it goes.

  14. As always, excellent content, Huw. I'm busy winterizing my garden here in Seattle. One thing I am curious about, and I don't think you've mentioned it in any of your past videos, why do you grow so many nasturtiums? Also, I just wanted to say to those of you who watch these regularly, be sure and become a Patreon supporter.

  15. Huh it looks nice having grass around your beds how do you stop grass growing up the inside of the beds? I have been following you and trying to grow but the grass keeps growing into my raised beds and taking over on the verge of giving up ☺

  16. unfortunately this year no winter garden for me as I live in Oman the rain varies from year to year sometimes we have lot of rain sometimes we don't and this summer we didn't get a drop and the groundwater level is very low and the wells water is barely enough for the fruit trees like dates palms and citrus trees and mango trees … but I still have some vegetable seedling growing in case the rainy season comes early this year ( I hope ) otherwise it gonna be a container gardening this year 🙁

  17. Good information, and very well done video as always. Nice job!
Thanks for the link to the new channel. I've already subscribed, and I look forward to watching those videos.
    Keep up the good work!

  18. where is the link for your other channel? if i enter 60 second gardening in the search bar, other people's videos are coming up, but no channel with this name. You should put the link in the description box so people can find it easier.
